Re: A Broadband Plan for Our Future, GN Docket 09-51
Chairman Genachowski,
PCIA?The Wireless Infrastructure Association congratulates you and the Commission on the
completion of the National Broadband Plan. We applaud your vision for achieving America?s
broadband future and ensuring that America?s wireless network is the world?s fastest and most
extensive.
The future success of broadband will depend on continued investment and innovation in wireless
communications capabilities. As the Plan correctly recognizes, wireless broadband presents the
greatest opportunity for increased broadband competition. The wireless ecosystem that delivers
wireless broadband starts with wireless infrastructure.
Competitive neutral host wireless infrastructure providers advance competition in wireless
services by reducing the costs of and time for deployment. The Commission took an important
first step to easing barriers to this investment through its Declaratory Ruling on wireless facility
siting and should continue to remove additional barriers through further actions.
PCIA stands ready to work with the Commission, Congress, the Executive Branch, and state and
local governments to implement the Plan to achieve America?s broadband future.
Sincerely,
Michael T. N. Fitch
