As a T-Mobile customer, I do *not* feel the proposed merger is in the best interests of consumers in general, or me in particular. Having a single GSM provider in this country will stifle innovation, reduce the choices in handsets, and encourage ATT even further to lock down devices and dictate what I can do with a device that I have paid for (and full price for, unsubsidized, as I never buy on contract). I am deeply concerned about the lack of competition and what that will do to prices, particularly as the radio bands are incompatible between handsets, which will force me and other T-Mobile subscribers to get completely new handsets. Carriers insist on trying to add "value" rather than being what consumers want, which is to be a dumb pipe. They add bloatware to phone operating systems to try to differentiate their handsets. ATT is particularly bad at this, and as a consumer, I want to see less of this, not more from a merger. ATT has a history of not expanding infrastructure and capacity to meet demand, overloading cell towers, and providing poor customer service in addition to their poorly performing network. Please do not approve this merger. It benefits ATT, and no one else, certainly not consumers.
