The merger between AT&T and T-Mobile would greatly help those who are under AT&T. T-Mobile
customers would be hurt in the short term, but if they choose to switch (to AT&T plans), they will
benefit as well.
However, the market would suffer. Use any index to measure monopolistic power (HHI or Lerner's)
and you see that the cell phone industry already has major power balance issues. While it will force
Sprint to take incredible risks to keep up with Verizon and AT&T, the long term effects may see a two-
firm industry which will create easier pricing power.
I believe that the merger/acquisition should be blocked.
