This buyout is really bad news for not only us currently happy T-Mobile customers, but all consumers.
I have used both Verizon and AT&T. Both provide horrible customer service. They also both actively
fleece every penny possible from so called customers. If it weren't for the iPhone, AT&T wouldn't be
in a position to try and buy T-Mobile right now.
T-Mobile, however, is a European company. Europe has much stronger consumer protection laws. It
shows in how T-Mobile treats its customers. Further, T-Mobile offers a much friendlier range of family
plans.
There are only four major carriers in the US. Allowing it to become three is a very bad idea if
consumer protection is important. Choice drives competition. Kill the sale. Further, force companies
like AT&T to unlock phones so people who paid for the phones can switch to other carriers. I am sure
quite a few iPhone users would have considered T-Mobile after their contracts ran out if they could
officially run the phone on T-Mobile's network.
